Thanks to our parents, friends and local businesses, we were able to open a library and resource center. Our library contains over 1000 books for children of all ages, resource and educational materials for teachers and parents, and two computers.
LOPC believes that one of the greatest gifts we can give our children is literacy. Studies have shown that children who are read to and who are encouraged to read at an early age continue to read as they grow older. Each of our classrooms visit the library at scheduled times throughout the week. During library time, children learn how to take proper care of the books and resources, and to speak in a soft voice. They may enjoy a story read to them by the teacher, or they may browse our many age-appropriate books, hand-picked and placed within reach of the children.
